THE MONKEY KING
STELLA POLARIS has now thrown themselves into the legend, and made a norwegian or straighter said european version of the story. STELLA POLARIS play on their rich register to tell the story; Commedia Dell’Arte, comic strip language, modern music, shadow play, puppets and figures, and the art of the Fool.
The performance has just one actor - even if it looks like a company. We are convinced that children and youths throughout will appreciate the dream of the distant East for one hour. like they also will be impressed of Esben Vinsnes. There are not many who will do this performance after him.THE STORY
The performance has a wide register of speed, colours and humour. The story tells about the Monkey King who seek out to reach immortality.
On his travel he meets:
- The wise man Subodhi who teach him the lessons of magic and immortality.
- The Dragon King from the Ocean of the East who gives him the magical weapon.
- The Heavens Emperor og the holy wiceman and priest Tripitaka.
The Monkey King becomes the disciple and scout of the priest. They travel to India to bring back some holy scripts. On the way they meet a pig, a dragon, Sandman and a lots of demons. The rest of the story you must imagine yourself...............
STELLA POLARIS
Stella Polaris was founded in 1985 by Merete Klingen and Per Spildra Borg. The Theatre
gives adventures beyond time and limits. They procure national as well as international
culture and myths, through a language of fools and storytelling, for a better living and
open world. They focus on spiritual development in a materialistic and Hi Tech world.
